In the 10 months from 10 October 2007 to 31 August 2008, we received 115 entries for the TOTE AS CANVAS Design Award 2008. Thank you so much for the many entries.

We got so many unique and wonderful artworks that it's hard for us to choose one of them. However, after a rigorous examination, we now have the pleasure of announcing the winners.

Environmentally friendly "eco-bags," which is one of the most popular items in Japan, since the revised Containers and Packaging Recycling Law have introduced a fee system for plastic bags. It gave us the chance to think about the global environment and try to reduce CO2 in daily life, and also it's made a new fashion "eco-conscious".

Our eco bags which is called "ROO-shopper" is in the shape of plastic bags distributed at supermarkets, and is made of durable and lightweight polyester. Do you know our "TOTE AS CANVAS" DESIGN AWARDS?

What's " TOTE AS CANCAS"?

    The idea for "TOTE AS CANVAS" originated when we thought that it would be a great idea to use Tote bag canvas for creating art. We want people to enjoy drawing and for adults to appreciate the enjoyment they can get from this just like when children find a white surface and some crayons and quickly start scribbling.
    Wouldn't it be great if people walking in the streets carried these bags andn turned the cities into what seems like a gallery? After a simple flash of inspiration we found the opportunity and created "Tote AS CANVAS" and organized the design award.
    We look forward to you participating in "TOTE AS CANVAS". Sorry, only in Japanese.

The yearly award starts on 10th October (Tote Day) and accepts entries until 31st August the following year. "TOTE AS CANVAS DESIGN AWARD 2008" is closed entries.
Please participate in the "TOTE AS CANVAS DESIGN AWARD 2009" which will start from October 10th.
