The Brooklyn Museum is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the U.S. boasting 52,000 m2 of space within beaux arts style architecture. The art museum has one of the world's foremost permanent collections which includes everything from Egyptian master works to modern art and contains art representing various cultures in the world. The museum can be quickly reached from Manhattan by going 30 minutes to the recently remodeled station. The art museum is surrounded by Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Prospect Park Zoo which are adjacent to an 18th century park and gardens.
MOCA (The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles) is exclusively a contemporary art museum. The museum's American modern art collection is one of the greatest on the west coast and this is adorned by MOMA in New York. As a part of the downtown redevelopment project in 1986, the museum was built using the design of Japanese architect, Arata Isozaki. A feature of the museum is that many of the collected items are not limited to objects or paintings but unconventional works.
